p. 61. Jesus: the God-manlocked

  • Linda Woodhead

Abstract

Christians agree that Jesus has a unique significance to them, but can this focus of unity cause division? Christians interpret Jesus' significance differently. ‘Jesus: the God-man’ examines what these differences are and how they have come about. Some of Jesus' elusiveness can be traced to the way He spoke. The only resources available for Jesus' philosophy are interpretations and reinterpretations. The spiritual energy embodied in the life, ministry, teaching, and memory of Jesus gave rise to many views on his significance, and with them a range of different ‘Christianities’. Among the extremes of Christianities lies the belief that salvation must come from above and that the divine can enter the body.
