‘Human divisiveness’ asks: Why do humans divide themselves? Many believe it is a natural process due to either racial difference (a view which is now widely discredited) or evolutionary pressure. Others say that division is a result of culture, a human invention. Humans display a wide diversity of behaviour, often pursuing contradictory goals. Humans, unlike animals, also display self-awareness. Their contemplations upon themselves lead to the establishment of traditions, meanings of life, and ideals of the ‘proper’ way to live. Humans can adapt to different environments and form relations across space and time barriers. One day this may eliminate human division, but for now nations will remain.
