‘The future of diaspora’ looks at what diaspora could mean in the years to come. When used by scholars, diaspora can homogenize a group or accentuate their differences. The term must be used properly, however, in order to prevent oversimplification of complex processes. Diaspora can be used to strengthen a country's power or compare lives of immigrants in different lands. Alternatively it can be used to transcend man-made boundaries and investigate people's movement and connections. Migration has traditionally scattered, and it is only recently that it has been able to bring people together. People's needs will change, and the concept of diaspora will change with them.
