This month four new introductions have been published:
- Charles Dickens: A Very Short Introduction, by Jenny Hartley, explores the key themes running through his works, and considers how they reflect his attitudes towards the harsh realities of 19th-century society and its institutions.
- Film Noir: A Very Short Introduction, by James Naremore, demonstrates that the genre has much earlier origins than it is usually associated with, and is more international than just Hollywood.
- Garden History: A Very Short Introduction, by Gordon Campbell, takes the reader on a globe-trotting historical journey through iconic and cultural signposts of gardens from different regions and traditions.
- Identity: A Very Short Introduction, by Florian Coulmas, provides a survey of the many faces of the concept of identity, and discusses its significance and meanings in a variety of fields.
