p. 1007. Mythology, spirituality, and the New Agelocked

  • Helen Morales

Abstract

The New Age movement is the most recent classical mythology phenomenon. Its goals are to take on board how everything is connected, and to promote personal transformation through spirituality. ‘Mythology, spirituality, and the New Age’ looks at the connection between New Age ideology and classical mythology by focusing on astrology and goddess worship. It is a movement that has gained from scholarship on mythology. New Age spirituality brings classical mythology into contemporary settings. Despite being a movement for change, it actually aims to maintain a status quo, using the classical myths for reassurance that the world is stable.
