Since ancient times the concept of good vs evil has resonated in literature. The last book of the New Testament, Revelation, can be placed between one of the earliest written texts Enuma Elish and modern fantasy literature. It tells the story of divine powers — God and Satan — that battle for control. ‘Revelation’ looks at this last book in the New Testament from a literary perspective and analyses it in terms of symbols, structure, plot, and narrative, comparing it to ancient works and modern fantasy literature. Revelation is both a war story and a fantasy story. Like many modern action films, it glories in violent deaths, but only of those who ‘deserve’ death.
