p. 11. A brief history of angelslocked

  • David Albert Jones

Abstract

The story of Abraham and the angels is one of the first mentions of angels in the Hebrew scriptures. The story is over three thousand years old. There are many renditions of this story and the angels appear in all. Religions that claim Abraham as their father — Judaism, Christianity, and Islam — all tell stories of angels. ‘A brief history of angels’ looks at the development of the angel icon in religious history. What parallels can be drawn between Judaism and Christianity? What beliefs can be found in the Islamic tradition? How do they differ from Christian or Jewish beliefs? What can we learn from Zorastrianism and Hinduism?
