The variations in the number of cases diagnosed and the numbers dying from cancer in different regions of the world are illustrated with reference to a number of different cancers, including lung, breast, liver, cancers of the gut, and prostate. The importance of the politics of cancer care is also illustrated to show the impact of different factors such as gender, social class, and death rates have in influencing health care.
