Social structures involve patterns of interaction, which create relationships and stability. Changing the way that organizational hierarchy, division of labour, departmentalization, and bureaucracy are implemented can modify the design of an organization's social structure. Physical structure is interlinked with social structure. An organization's physical space can be designed to maximize efficiency and promote a certain image. New technology is changing the way organizations are structured. Different organizational structures lend themselves better to certain technologies.
